By Boniface Ihiasota, USA
Charles “Chuck” Helmke, the most tattooed senior man, has passed away.
It was reported that he died on March 12 at his home in Melbourne, Florida, surrounded by his children and partner, Charlotte Guttenberg.
Chuck was 81 years old and had earned a string of tattoo-based world records with his partner.
He set the record for the most tattooed senior citizen (male) in 2016, with an impressive 97.5% of his body covered in intricate designs.
He also held the record for the most skulls tattooed on the body (male) with a staggering 376.
Meanwhile, Charlotte, his partner, held the record for the most tattooed person ever (female) and the most tattooed person living (female), with 98.75% of her body covered in artwork.
She also holds the record for the most feathers tattooed on the body (female) with 216.
The happy couple, who shared a love of body art, starred together in the Facebook Watch show Beyond The Record in 2017, where they opened up about their love for tattoos.
Chuck and Charlotte’s shared love of tattoos brought them together, and Chuck helped Charlotte get through the pain of her first-ever tattoo session, which Charlotte initially struggled with.
Chuck and Charlotte were no strangers to negative attention because of their tattoos, but they never let it get to them.
According to Charlotte, “it says more about them than it does about us.”
In his parting words of wisdom, Chuck encouraged people to “be yourself” and not be afraid to put yourself out there, no matter what.
The world has lost a colourful and inspiring character, and our thoughts are with Chuck’s loved ones during this difficult time.
