Why PDP Protested Over Tinubu’s Victory – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that his party’s protest at the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja was due to the complete contravention of all the provisions of the current Electoral law.

Alongside the PDP Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, other party leaders, and supporters, Atiku led the protest.

Atiku addressed reporters outside the gate of the INEC headquarters in Abuja and declared that the protest would continue.

He cited the complete violation of the current Electoral law as the reason behind the PDP’s actions, adding that INEC did not listen and went ahead to announce the election results.

Atiku maintained that the PDP had the right to protest under the constitution and that it would continue either daily or intermittently.

He also pointed out that the right to protest did not preclude the party from going to court.

Atiku, alongside his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, lost the Presidential election held on February 25 to the All Progressives Congress’s Bola Tinubu, who emerged as the winner and President-elect. Atiku came in second place in the election.
