Why I Didn’t Support Peter Obi, Igbo Presidency — Wike
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has denied supporting the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, during the February 25 election, saying that nobody discussed the issue of Igbo presidency with him.
According to a statement by the Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Dr Alex Ogbonnia, Wike made the declaration during a meeting with the group in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Ogbonnia said that Ohaneze Ndigbo confronted Wike over his alleged role against Obi during the presidential election.
Wike explained that the Southern Governors Forum had agreed at a meeting in Asaba to shift power to the South after President Muhammadu Buhari.
He added that the issue of presidency to the Southeast was never on the table during the meetings.
Wike expressed disgust that during the PDP presidential primary election, several well-known people of the Southeast betrayed him and sabotaged the Southern interest by voting for a candidate from the northern part.
Wike denied rigging the presidential election against Obi, saying that the reports circulating on social media are the handiwork of his adversaries.
