Why I Chose Music Over Medicine — Peruzzi
Nigerian singer, Peruzzi has revealed his decision to drop out of medical school in his final year during an interview on the Zero Conditions Podcast.
Explaining the mental exhaustion he faced while studying Medicine and Surgery in Ukraine at Odessa National University, he expressed his desire to pursue his passion in music.
“I got tired for real, for real. I never felt like that in my life. I was done, like everything about me, in my head I was done with medicine,” Peruzzi shared.
He emphasized that his decision wasn’t about the time left in his studies but his overall unwillingness to continue the course.
Peruzzi elaborated on confiding in his mother about his struggles and the one condition she set for his return to Nigeria.
“I really got tired, my entire being was tired, so I left on the first of January and I didn’t even have my passport. So I went to the embassy, and they gave me a travel letter because I needed to leave urgently,” he explained.
Upon returning to Nigeria, he faced speculation from his father’s church members, who whispered that he had dropped out due to being home during a non-holiday period.
Despite this, Peruzzi, who had lost his passport and dealt with the challenges of returning, holds no regrets about his choice to prioritize his passion for music over completing medical school.
