Utomi Confirms Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso Agreed to Form Coalition
Renowned political economist, Professor Pat Utomi, has disclosed in a Channels TV interview on Sunday that the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have reached an agreement to form a mega party poised to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
When questioned about the collaboration between Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Peter Obi, and Okey Nwosu, Utomi confirmed their consensus, emphasizing the involvement of leaders from social movements and the labor sector.
Regarding the coalition’s name, Utomi stated that discussions on naming are yet to take place.
He highlighted the creation of a new tribe—a community committed to values such as resisting bribery—encompassing individuals dedicated to fostering progress in Nigeria.
Utomi underscored the need for a clean start, asserting that Nigeria has lacked a genuine political party since 1999.
He criticized the existing political landscape, characterizing it as a platform for machine politics, resulting in state capture without tangible improvements in citizens’ quality of life.
Reflecting on the state of Nigeria since 1999, Utomi expressed concern over the deterioration of living standards, citing the failure of the political class to align with the people for meaningful development.
He emphasized the urgency of addressing the country’s challenges and fostering a positive transformation to combat poverty and violence.
