US Plans Strikes on Iranian Allies in Syria, Iraq
The US has approved plans for strikes on Iranian targets in Syria and Iraq, citing the need to defend American troops following a drone attack in Jordan, Excel Magazine International can report.
US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin emphasized the US’s commitment to protecting its interests, stating, “We will take all necessary actions to defend the United States, our interests, and our people.”
President Biden clarified that while responding to the attack, the goal is not to escalate tensions with Iran.
The approved plans focus on targeting Iranian-backed groups in Syria and Iraq, rather than inside Iran itself.
The situation reflects escalating tensions in the region, with increased attacks on US and Israeli-linked entities by Iran-backed groups.
