US, India Collaborate on Defense, Trade, and Innovation at Delhi Meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United States President, Joe Biden held a bilateral discussion at the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi on Friday evening.
Excel Magazine International was told that the meeting occurred shortly after President Biden’s Air Force One landed in Delhi ahead of the G20 Summit scheduled for the weekend.
The Prime Minister’s Office released photographs of the two leaders engaging in talks covering a wide range of issues aimed at strengthening the bond between India and the United States.
Sources within the Indian government stated that during the meeting, Prime Minister Modi expressed his appreciation for President Biden’s vision and dedication to enhancing the “India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.” This partnership is founded on shared democratic values, strategic convergences, and strong people-to-people ties.
Both leaders acknowledged the progress made in implementing the outcomes of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the United States in June 2023, including advancements in the India-US Initiative for Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET).
An official source reported that they also welcomed the ongoing cooperation in various areas, including defense, trade, investment, education, health, research, innovation, culture, and people-to-people ties.
President Biden highlighted the deepening collaboration between the two countries in space and extended his congratulations to PM Modi and the people of India on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Furthermore, both leaders agreed that the India-US partnership is mutually beneficial, not only for their respective nations but also for global interests.
Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude for the consistent support provided by the United States in ensuring the success of India’s G20 Presidency.
Before departing for India, President Biden shared his anticipation for the G20 Summit on social media, emphasizing its importance for international economic cooperation and addressing the priorities of the American people.
President Biden will be accommodated at the luxurious ITC Maurya Sheraton during his stay in the city.
The White House aims to demonstrate the United States’ ability to contribute positively to the world at this summit, particularly as emerging economies, including those in the BRICS bloc, unite to voice their concerns.
Last month, the BRICS bloc, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, expressed its willingness to welcome six new nations to the group, including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Regarding the possibility of a joint statement after the G20 Summit, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan explained that he couldn’t predict it with certainty but emphasized the United States’ readiness to play its part if all countries collaborate constructively.
Sullivan pointed out that issues related to Ukraine and climate change, particularly the ambitions of oil-producing nations, are potential obstacles. Additionally, he mentioned China’s efforts to link technology access to the wording of any joint declaration.
A multitude of global leaders have arrived in Delhi for the summit, including the Prime Ministers of Australia and the United Kingdom. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, upon arriving in the city, underscored his government’s commitment to combating Khalistani terror threats, affirming that any form of extremism or violence of this nature is unacceptable in the UK. He emphasized the UK’s collaboration with the Indian government to address pro-Khalistan extremism.
