The House of Representatives which is controlled by the Democrats on Thursday October 31, 2019 voted to formally proceed with the impeachment inquiry on the US president, Donald Trump. The White House condemned the votes to proceed with the impeachment inquiry on President Trump as 232 Democrats voted in favour of the impeachment inquiry while 196 Republicans voted against the inquiry.

Excel Magazine gathered that the US president is being accused of trying to mount pressure on Ukraine into investigating unverified corrupt claims against his arch political rival in the 2020 presidential race, Joe Biden.

Investigations showed that there was a phone call between the US President and Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky on 25 July 2019 where Mr. Trump was asking the Ukrainian President to investigate his political rival Joe Biden, a 2020 presidential candidate and former Vice President.

“Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats have done nothing more than enshrine unacceptable violations of due process into House rules”, the White House Press Secretary said. Trump has continually said, that there was no “quid pro quo,” meaning that he didn’t withhold the funds in order to force Ukraine’s hand.
