President Muhammadu Buhari had affirmed that the University of Transportation located in Daura, Katsina state will boost local capacity and improve local technology which will provide job opportunities for the teeming population.
President Buhari made this assertion yesterday during the inauguration ceremony of the transportation University in Daura, Katsina state.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, president Buhari said that the University of Transportation located in Daura was part his administration efforts targeted at promoting and developing indigenous capacity.
‘The project is part of Federal Government’s efforts at promoting and developing indigenous capacity through skill acquisition and knowledge transfer to effectively maintain and operate railway infrastructure’, he said.
The president also added that the government will pursue the policy on development of indigenous capacity with undiminished vigour as it will offer tremendous benefits I the overall development of the country.
‘When established,the university would,among other things pave way for domestication of railway engineering and general transportation sciences in Nigeria,thereby bridging the technology and skill gaps in the railway and transportation sector,’ he noted.
