A Nigerian lady whose identity was disclosed as Maureen Ewuru has been found dead in a hotel room after allegedly spending the night with her lover. The unfortunate incidence took place at the hotel in River state, South South region of Nigeria. The said lover is currently at large and his and his identity is yet to be ascertained.
While narrating the incidence, the hotel receptionist disclosed that Mrs. Maureen Ewuru had visited the hotel, the previous day to meet up with her lover.
According to the hotel staff, the hotel management only got to know of the sad development when they were going round the still occupied hotel rooms to enquire whether the occupants would be retaining it for the next night, only to find the victim’s body lying lifeless on the bed with indications that she had died of strangling.
It is believed that the culprit had fled the hotel in the early hours of the day after strangling the lady.
There is however no hope of bringing the suspect to book as the hotel has no CCTV cameras, therefore making it difficult if not impossible to identify the culprit.
Some onlookers and hotel residents, who reacted to the sad development, feared that Maureen might have been murdered for ritual purposes. They urged the government to enact a law, mandating all hotels and other public entries to install CCTV cameras in order to make the job of security operatives easier when investigating such crimes.
