In an epic win for Abel Tesfaye, also known by his stage name The Weeknd, the Canadian singer has officially clinched the title of the world’s most popular musician.
As reported by TMZ on Tuesday, the 33-year-old artist has smashed two new Guinness World Records by garnering a whopping 111.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, as of 20th March 2023. Not only that, but he’s also the first artist in history to reach the milestone of 100 million monthly Spotify listeners – a feat that deserves a round of applause.
It’s no wonder that The Weeknd is at the top of the game, as he currently enjoys nearly 30 million more monthly listeners than the second-placed Miley Cyrus, who boasts an impressive 82.4 million monthly Spotify listeners.
The Weeknd’s popularity easily surpasses other musical powerhouses like Shakira, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and even Rihanna, with an enormous gap between himself and the nearest male rival, Ed Sheeran, who comes in at 77.5 million monthly listeners.
The Weeknd’s musical prowess has indeed put him on top of the charts, and it seems that he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
We can’t wait to see what this musical superstar has in store for us next!
