Tesla has issued a recall for more than 125,000 vehicles to correct a problem with their seat belt warning systems.

Excel Magazine International learnt the recall impacts various models produced from 2012 to 2024.

The issue involves Tesla’s seat belt warning system, which is designed to provide visual and audible reminders to drivers when their seat belt is not fastened.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the warning signal in some vehicles fails to activate, violating federal safety standards.

The recall covers the following Tesla models: 2012 to 2024 Model S, 2015 to 2024 Model X, 2017 to 2023 Model 3 and 2020 to 2023 Model Y.

Tesla has received 104 warranty claims regarding the seat belt warning issue.

It stated that it is not aware of any collisions, fatalities, or injuries related to this defect.

The company, led by CEO Elon Musk, plans to deploy a free software update to resolve the issue in June.
