Swift Taylor Makes History as First Woman to Earn Time’s Person of the Year Twice

American superstar, Taylor Swift has been honored as the 2023 Person of the Year by Time Magazine, marking her second time receiving this prestigious title.

Excel Magazine International reports the announcement, a historic moment, was made on Wednesday, making Swift the first woman to achieve this distinction twice.

She initially earned the accolade in 2017, coinciding with the release of her iconic “Reputation” album.

TIME’s Person of the Year recognizes the individual, group, or concept that significantly influenced headlines, whether positively or negatively.

In a notable achievement, Swift surpassed notable figures such as Chinese President Xi Jinping, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and British Monarch King Charles III.

This year, Swift’s music career flourished with a successful Eras tour and an album re-release. The tour generated an impressive $850 million in revenue after 66 shows in the United States alone.

Swift’s net worth soared to $1.1 billion in October, securing her a spot in the billionaire league, as reported by Forbes.

Described as the “Taylor effect,” her “Eras” tour created an economic surge, with fans flocking to cities, boosting hotel occupancy, and supporting local businesses.

Time Magazine highlighted the international impact, noting requests from politicians in Thailand, Hungary, and Chile for Swift to perform in their countries. Renaming of cities, stadiums, and streets occurred, leading to a mini economic boom in each location.

Beyond Time’s recognition, Swift received other notable accolades as the year concludes.

Forbes named her the fifth most powerful woman globally on Tuesday, making her the first entertainer to break into the top five. Similarly, People Magazine crowned Swift as the most intriguing person of 2023 on the same day.
