Supreme Court to Rule on Presidential Candidates’ Appeals on Thursday
The Supreme Court has scheduled Thursday for delivering the judgment on the appeals presented by the presidential candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
These appeals challenge the results of the February 25th election, which saw the emergence of President Bola Tinubu.
Dr. Festus Akande, the Director of Information at the Supreme Court, officially confirmed the date on Wednesday.
Both the PDP and LP presented their cases before the apex court on Monday. Meanwhile, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its presidential candidate, Chichi Ojei, withdrew their appeal, resulting in its dismissal.
The Presidential Election Petitions Court had previously dismissed the petitions of both the PDP and LP on September 6, citing a lack of evidence. However, Obi and Atiku filed their appeals, which will now be considered by the Supreme Court.
