South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has said that the country’s borders will open soon; pointing out that there is a significant drop in daily new corona virus infections.
In response to this, the country’s Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula visited Cape Town International Airport to check on preparations. “If people come to our country applying for a Visa, part of the things we are looking at is that you must have a certification that about 72 hours ago, you tested and you were covid-19 negative”.
Reacting to this, Airports Company South Africa CEO, Mpumi Mpofu said that the process to get passengers’ confidence will be challenging.
Johannesburg’s OR Tambo and King Shaka remain the only two airports that will be open to allow locals travel and permit visitors from countries that are not high risk of the pandemic.
