Security Guard Shot Outside Drake’s Toronto Home
Toronto police have reported that a security guard was shot overnight outside the residence of Canadian rapper Drake.
Excel Magazine International learnt that the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. EDT Tuesday when suspects in a vehicle fired at the guard at the corner of Park Lane Circle, near Drake’s mansion, before fleeing the scene.
This medium further gathered that the guard is now hospitalized in serious condition, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the chest.
Although as at press time, it is unclear if Drake was present at his home during the shooting or if he was the intended target.
Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force said, “It’s too early in the investigation to discuss motives, but we are in touch with Drake’s team, and they are cooperating.”
The investigation is ongoing, with police analyzing video footage of the incident, which has not been released due to quality issues.
This shooting occurs amid an escalating feud between Drake and U.S. rapper Kendrick Lamar.
The dispute has led to several diss tracks exchanged over the weekend, with Lamar’s latest track “Not Like Us” – which features Drake’s mansion on its cover – topping the music charts.
In the song, Lamar makes several serious accusations against Drake, who has denied them in his response track, “The Heart Part 6.”
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed her concern, stating, “Any shooting is unwelcome in this city, and I hope the police will apprehend those violating the law.”
Police have cordoned off the area around Drake’s home, known as The Embassy, which is in Toronto’s upscale Bridle Path neighborhood.
The property is known for its high security, featuring gates that exceed the city’s height regulations.
