Reverend Commits Suicide as Adultery Scandal Leaks on Church’s WhatsApp Group
Reverend Oscar Mukahanana, a prominent figure within the United Methodist Church, took his own life following the exposure of an extramarital affair, which sent shockwaves through the church community.
Mukahanana, who held the position of Harare East District Superintendent in Zimbabwe, was found to have engaged in an illicit relationship with a female youth from the congregation.
The revelation of this affair came to light when an audio recording of a secret meeting between Mukahanana and the young lady was leaked on the church’s WhatsApp group.
The leaked audio contained disturbing comments by Mukahanana, expressing his satisfaction over an intimate encounter with the young woman just before her menstrual cycle.
This revelation was met with shock and condemnation within the church community, leading to severe ridicule and mockery by fellow church members, who went as far as creating memes to further humiliate the District Superintendent.
Overwhelmed by the shame and humiliation brought on by the scandal, Mukahanana tragically took his own life on a Friday.
The incident was a heartbreaking culmination of the distress caused by the scandal and its aftermath.
Confirming the death of the cleric, UMC Harare District said in a statement, “It is with heavy heart to announce to you the untimely death of our Beloveth District Superintendent Rev Oscar Mukahanana of the Harare East District.
“The Office of the Bishop shall be informing the church of developments and funeral arrangements. As a Church, you are being cordially requested to support the Mukahanana family through your prayers.”
