Prominent Igbo Leader, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu is Dead
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo community is in mourning following the death of its President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the age of 82, Excel Magazine International can report.
This was confirmed in a statement released by his son, Jide Iwuanyanwu, saying the renowned businessman and politician died after a brief illness.
Before his death, Chief Iwuanyanwu was a respected figure in Igbo politics and culture, serving as the 11th President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and President of Owerri Peoples Assembly.
Born in September 1942 in Umuohii, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Chief Iwuanyanwu leaves behind a legacy of leadership and service to his community. He is survived by his wife, Frances Iwuanyanwu, and numerous children and grandchildren.
The family has announced that funeral arrangements will be made public after necessary consultations.
