President Tinubu Announces 60% Cut in Official Travel Entourage
President Bola Tinubu has endorsed significant “cost-cutting” measures, slashing official entourage numbers by 60% on both local and international travels, Excel Magazine International can report.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed this during a briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
The directive extends to the Offices of the President, Vice President, First Lady, Wife of the Vice President, and all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
Ngelale clarified that the President will no longer permit large security delegations on domestic travels, aiming to reduce expenses related to estacode and duty allowances.
For international trips, President Tinubu has set a maximum limit of 20 individuals, reducing to five for the First Lady and the Vice President’s entourage.
Similarly, on local trips, the President’s staff accompaniment is limited to 25 members, while the First Lady and the Wife of the Vice President are restricted to 10 staff members. The Vice President’s local entourage is capped at 15 members.
Additionally, ministers are now restricted to four persons for foreign trips, and heads of agencies can only travel with two persons.
This directive follows recent criticism of the Tinubu administration’s extensive entourage at the COP28 Climate Change Summit in Dubai.
