Opinion : Will The 2020/21 English Premier League Season Spring Up Many Surprises

THE English premier league is the most loved and most followed football league in the world, and the premier league season continues to progress, with the games that have been played, one cannot help but to be kept at the edge of the seat even as it is a known fact in the premier league that there are no clear favorites for the title until the league draws to a close.

The Premier League is known for its high octane intensity and the unpredictability of games, as the win can flow to any side at any point of the game. The league has no underdogs as teams always spring up surprises at any point in the cause of play.

Match day 4 sprung up a huge surprise when Manchester City were thumped 5-2 by Leicester, with striker Jamie Vardy the match highlight as Brendan Rodgers’s men dealt a huge blow to the Cityzens. Many questioned the defensive prowess of the team even after a lot of defensive reinforcements were made during the transfer window.

City’s struggles were further in the light after the 1-1 draw to Leeds In a game that many expected City to coast to victory. It may be too early to start judging or making predictions as it is still very early in the season, but, with the games already played, one cannot help but sense that this season is going to be a rollercoaster of a ride.

Apart from Manchester City, fellow heavyweights have also experienced some shaky times even as it is still early in the season. Chelsea survived what would have been a heavy blow as they came from 3-nil down to salvage a draw and earn a point.

It was indeed a shaky start for Frank Lampard’s blue army. Fellow big wigs Manchester united have been the hardest hit, falling 3-1 at the hands of crystal palace and being humbled recently by spurs in a 6-1 rout. It is indeed murky waters for Ole Gunnar Solkjaer as the team has had the worst possible start to a season.

The mid season transfer spree that saw the likes of Bruno fernandes join the team which led to a revolution that changed United’s season has turned into an early season gloom. With the red devils in unstable times, it remains to be seen if Ed Woodward and the United board will dish out the funds for much needed reinforcements in the transfer market.

Title holders Liverpool , who have had a 100% start to the season fell 7-2 at Aston villa in what was a shocking defeat and an abysmal performance from Klopp’s men.

The title holders will be looking to bounce back from such a terrible defeat.
As the league advances, fans will certainly be looking forward to a great season which will produce more shocking results and more exciting football. Will the 2020/21 season spring up more surprises? It remains to be seen.
