Pope Francis is set to lead the Easter Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square in Rome on Sunday morning, as tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the celebration, which marks the most significant feast day of the Catholic Church.
According to the Vatican’s gendarmerie, around 60,000 people participated in the Palm Sunday mass last weekend.
Recall, on Easter Sunday, Christians around the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which signifies the triumph of life over death.
Following the traditional Mass, the Pope plans to give the customary blessing, “Urbi et Orbi,” which means “to the city and the world,” from the central loggia.
The Holy See has also announced that in honor of the Easter holiday and to express joy in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the forecourt of St. Peter’s Basilica will be transformed into a flower garden decorated with approximately 35,000 flowers and plants from the Netherlands.
