The founder of Land of Hope, Anja Ringgren Loven, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the rescue of Charity, a girl who was accused of witchcraft and abandoned by her family and community.
On April 5th, 2013, Charity was found by Land of Hope’s Director of Child Development, Nsidibe Orok, and Anja Ringgren Loven in an abandoned house.
Anja Ringgren Loven shared before and after photos of Charity on her Facebook page on Thursday.
According to Anja Ringgren Loven’s post, when they found Charity, she was severely malnourished, beaten, and abused.
Charity had been begging for food during the day and sleeping on the dirty ground of the abandoned house at night.
The only clothing she had was a Chelsea football jersey that was many sizes too big for her. Anja Ringgren Loven remembered how Charity’s body appeared fragile like a feather.
However, as Anja Ringgren Loven stated in her post, Charity has come a long way since then.
She has become a strong and independent young woman who will start university next year.
Anja Ringgren Loven expressed her gratitude to those who had supported Charity’s journey, saying that Charity’s development and accomplishments were all thanks to their love and support.
Anja Ringgren Loven ended her post by saying that on April 5th, 2023, they would dress up to celebrate Charity’s development and accomplishments.
The past struggles and immense pain that Charity endured are now behind her, and she has a bright future ahead of her.
