Nigerian Afrobeats singer Tiwatope Savage known simply as Tiwa Savage has been awarded an honorary doctorate by her alma mater, the University of Kent, United Kingdom today July 15th.
The Institution announced the news via its official Twitter account. It reads, “Congratulations Dr @TiwaSavage! We’re super proud to have awarded the Queen of Afrobeats an honorary doctorate at Canterbury Cathedral this morning. #MadelnKent #KentGrads”
Recall that the singer graduated with a degree in Accounting from the University of Kent and worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland before she ventured into music fully.
Speaking after the conferment of the honor, Tiwa Savage took to her social media account to congratulate her fellow graduands of the institution while encouraging them to be the best they can be.
She said, “Class of 2022. This is Dr. Tiwa Savage and I just want to say a huge, congratulations to all of you. Well done. I’m super proud and I want you to go out there, have fun, kill it. Be the best that you can be because you truly deserve it. Well done”
