Peter Obi Tasks Nigerian Leaders to Shun Corruption
The Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerian political leaders to reject corrupt practices, emphasizing the negative impact on future generations.
Addressing the concerning rise in youth involvement in cybercrime, Obi questioned the source of such behavior, pointing fingers at parents and leaders as potential influences.
Reflecting on International Anti-Corruption Day, the former Anambra State Governor shared a post on his X handle, stating, “As the global community observed International Anti-Corruption Day, we must reflect on the corrosive effects of corruption on our society and country. Corruption poses the greatest threat to our national existence, hindering our democracy, peace, and progress, impeding our nation’s development.”
Obi expressed concern about the erosion of the rule of law and the disregard for the constitution, attributing these issues to the pervasive corruption within society.
He lamented that leaders set poor examples for their children by engaging in corrupt practices, contributing to the reported surge in cybercrime among Nigerian youth.
Emphasizing his commitment to a corruption-free Nigeria, Obi called for collective efforts to combat corruption and foster a society based on integrity and accountability.
