Peter Obi Reveals Why He Didn’t Support Atiku in 2023 Election
The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who previously served as the running mate to Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, has offered insights into his decision not to support Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 election.
This move came after Obi parted ways with the PDP due to internal conflicts within the party, subsequently joining the LP and contesting in the presidential election.
Obi who secured victories in 12 states across the nation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), held a press conference today, which occurred approximately two weeks following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of President Bola Tinubu’s win in the 2023 general election.
During the conference, he explained his refusal to step down or collaborate with Atiku Abubakar, emphasizing that his campaign was driven by a vision for a new Nigeria, which set him apart from other presidential candidates.
He stated, “We don’t regret anything we did. We came out with a campaign for a new Nigeria, a stance that distinguished us from other candidates.”
