The Government of Abia State has recently become aware of a concerning situation involving several officials from the previous administration who are still in possession of government-owned properties.
In an official statement issued on Sunday, Professor Kenneth Kalu, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), expressed the government’s concern and provided a detailed list of the properties in question, which includes vehicles, generators, laptop computers, and various other assets.
To rectify this matter, the Government has issued a directive requiring all individuals currently in possession of these government properties to promptly return them to the office of the SSG.
The deadline for the return of the assets and obtaining the necessary acknowledgement from the office is set for 4 pm on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
It is crucial to emphasize that non-compliance with this directive will not be taken lightly, and appropriate sanctions will be imposed, said the SSG in a statement.
The Government of Abia State is committed to ensuring the responsible and lawful use of public resources, and it expects all individuals involved to adhere to these principles.
