Gov. Ortom Blasts Nigerian Presidency For Failure To Act On Insecurity Caused By Herders, Miyeti Allah

The governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has slammed the Nigerian government for failing to act decisively in dealing with rampaging herdsmen accused of fermenting criminality in the country, he noted this during a press briefing.

According to him, the Presidency must act fast to curb insecurity because time is going.

“From all parts of the country, there is general insecurity and this is being propelled by herdsmen, I have made this statement to the Presidency before that if they want peace, Miyetti Allah must be arrested . These are people who have taken responsibility that they killings, the maim, they rape and do all sort of activities, yet their leadership is in Abuja” he lamented.

He stated that he was castigated when he talked and was being vilified.

“There was nothing bad that was not said against me but the reality is here , it is happening to the entire country. When will the federal government come out and arrest the herdsmen carry AK-47, when are they going to do that, are we second citizens in this country” he lamented.

He wondered why a Fulani man is superior to other citizens of the country.

“A Benue man is not a slave to any Fulani man in this country. At a point in time the federal government came out through the police that even those with licensed Pump-action and Dane gun should surrender to the police, how many times has the presidency come out to condemn that Fulani men are carrying AK47 around in the country”
He noted that if the government cannot regulate AK-47, then every other citizen should be licensed on same.

“You cannot disarm me and arm a Fulani man. The Federal government is biased”
He said that those around President Buhari are denying him knowing what is happening in the country
“You promised that the country will be for all of us, you said you will be for everybody and will be for nobody and now it is clear that you are just for Fulani people because nothing is coming from you to give the people confidence that you are the President of Federal republic of Nigeria, not the President of Fulani, you are the President of everybody”
He noted that the ongoing situation has the potential of dividing the country which would not man well to the country or anybody.

Ortom said those who are refusing to talk on the current scenarios are sycophants and mediocre.
Ortom outburst is coming on heels of outcry over increase in kidnapping and criminal activities of suspected herders across the country.
