In a tell-it all interview with EXCEL MAGAZINE INTERNATIONAL bothering on the upcoming Okigwe senatorial elections, the senatorial candidate on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr Charles Chibuike Onyirimba, has stated that the development of the zone remains the underlying theme of his manifesto.

While lamenting that Okigwe constituency has remained under-developed despite the rich resource in the zone, he vowed that if elected he will change the narrative.

He also clamped on the need for proactive legislation and representation that brings practical results is one the many reasons that spurs his intention to run for the seat.

He said “The need to have proactive legislation with practical results spurred my intentions. An individual making laws in the senate chambers must be one who understands the mechanics of law. One who does not just understand law but can also practice it. The dividends from Abuja on development are not enough and we intend to change this. The people are waiting for proper leadership and I understand the challenges facing the people of okigwe zone”.

He argued that his wealth of experience especially as a lawyer who has practiced for a long time and also his foreign influence will attract foreign investment to the constituency.
He stated that he has intentions to overhaul the overall socio-economic and political landscape of the zone with practical leadership dividends, development policies and inclusive representation which will change the zone for better.

Barrister Onyirimba emphasized the need to have a youthcentric representation and an all inclusive leadership.

“ The youths of the zone were desperate for a change and I am the right person to reposition the youths with pragmatic policies which will culminate in tremendous youth development. I will ensure that Agricultural potentials of the zone transform into rapid agricultural development , attract investment and breed industrialization and create job opportunities for our teeming youth”

Speaking on foreign investment and industrialization, he said;

‘’ Once I emerge as senator representing okigwe zone, I will attract foreign investment into okigwe zone. I have friends and companies that are willing to come in. the only way to transform the zone is not only through legtislation but through practical industries. No single industries in Okigwe and going to the capital itself, okigwe, the degradation is horrible.

There is no single industry in okigwe zone. Our youths are totally unemployed. Any senator coming in at this point, needs to attract foreign investment, take the bull by the horn and open industries. I am the right man for the job’’. He further made it clear there was a need to shift the trajectory of the constituency and focus more on development.

Allaying concerns that he may not be able to balance out well with the grassroot since he had spent most of his life abroad, Barr onyirimba stated;

‘’There is no need for concern.our focus will be on the grassroot. In the last 25 years, I visit home(okigwe), three times a year. I am close to my people. Prior to preparations to contest, I made adequate consultations with the people. The shop owners, the market women, the youths even before meeting the elites. I have the interests of the people at heart. ’’

Barrister Onyirimba also tasked Nigerians on the need to rise to the occasion of the independence day celebration noting that Nigerians need to arise to the task of development.

He noted that APGA is the party to ensure development of the nation and he is also committed to the cause.
