The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) commemorates its 50th anniversary with a nostalgic look back at some of Nigeria’s most popular celebrities.
Stars like Davido, Taaooma, and Cee-C are among the famous faces who once donned the NYSC uniform, reminding us of the vital role the organisation plays in the lives of young Nigerians.
The NYSC program, which requires all tertiary graduates to serve their country for a year, was established in 1973 under Decree 24 of May 22.
Its primary aim was to foster a sense of unity and common purpose among young Nigerians, while also helping to rebuild and reconcile the country after the devastating Civil War.
Through the NYSC, graduates from diverse backgrounds and regions of the country are brought together to serve their communities, gain new skills, and form lasting friendships.
As we celebrate 50 years of this remarkable program, let us reflect on its impact and recommit ourselves to building a brighter future for Nigeria.
