Number of Deaths in Taraba, Benue , Not Up To Deaths In Zamfara- Buhari

….Nigerians Condemn statement

Nigerian President has spoken extensively on efforts made to curb insecurity in the Country while highlighting casualities from the incidences.
While fielding questions from AriseTv and Thisday Newspapers, he spoke about the deaths recorded in States like Benue,Taraba and Zamfara stating that States like Benue and Taraba witnessed lesser deaths than Zamfara.
” The number of people killed in Taraba and Benue is not up to the people killed in Zamfara but when you (media) wants to report it, you make It look like an Ethnic/Religious war. You can do better in helping the Country especially through responsible reportage and good leadership ” he noted.

This statement has however caused an outrage with Nigerians describing it as inappropriate especially on social media.
A Twitter user @dondekojo tweeted
“Buhari just said the number of people killed in Taraba are not up to the People killed in Zamfara and Benue Combined. Buhari is comparing Nigerian lives #AriseInterview”

Another Twitter user @steadi_lady tweeted
“The number of people killed in Benue & Taraba are not up to the number of people killed in Zamfara States. – @MBuhari How can a president be saying this ? Are we comparing death toll now ?”
