Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Monday, April 29, took to the street of Abuja, demanding creation of decent jobs for youths in the country.

Protesters were seen in large numbers marching across some major streets of the nation’s capital, demanding that the government step up efforts at eradicating unemployment. The march according to them was preparatory to the commemoration of the 2019 workers day on May 1.

Peter Ozo-Eson, general secretary, NLC and Bobboi Kaigama, the president of TUC had earlier described the action of President Buhari to set minimum wage of workers at N30, 000 as laudable. Ozo-Eson said that the NLC and Nigerian workers appreciated the swift response of Buhari, adding that such move would put to rest any uneasiness that may have been felt by Nigerian workers. According to him, we hope that all employers of labour will commence the process of implementing the new minimum wage of N30,000 as passed by the president.
