Nigeria, United Nations, restate Commitment to Positive Collaborations
As part of line-up activities for his visit to the United States of America (USA), Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has met with the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The meeting, according to a statement by the global body, afforded the Deputy Secretary-General and the Vice President an opportunity to exchange “views on the strengthening of the solid relations between the United Nations and Nigeria on issues, ranging from sustainable development, sustaining peace, preventing crisis, addressing violent extremism and other challenges especially across the Sahel, and West Africa.”
While commenting on the visit, Mohammed thanked Osinbajo, he also assured of the Secretary General’s high regard and esteem for Nigerians.
He also expressed gladness at the collaborations between the Nigerian Government and the United Nations.
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo also reteirated the Nigerian Government commitment to ensuring that international standards and promoting the core values of the United Nations remains fore. He also appreciated commitment of the United Nations to Development of member countries and assistance in critical areas.
Nigeria and Nigerians play critical roles in the United Nations especially with the most populous Black Country in the world commanding a major interest in representing the African continent.
