A significant number of residents from Kano State have Saturday demonstrated against the proposed utilization of force by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to address the ongoing Niger coup crisis.
This demonstration, as gathered by Excel Magazine International was in response to the directive issued by ECOWAS leaders during an emergency meeting held in Abuja on August 10, in which they instructed the military forces of member states to be prepared for potential intervention to restore democratic governance in the neighboring West African nation.
The protesters expressed their opposition to the ECOWAS plan through a peaceful demonstrations, displaying various placards and waving both Nigerian and Nigerien flags.
A video from the event captured the protesters chanting in the Hausa language, conveying the sentiment that Nigeriens are viewed as fellow brothers and family members.
The demonstrators emphasized their desire for a peaceful resolution, highlighting their strong objection to any form of aggression against Niger, which they perceived as unjust and potentially driven by external Western influences.
