The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called upon President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in response to the ongoing sit-at-home order in the Southeast region, Excel Magazine International can report.
Ohanaeze emphasized that declaring a state of emergency would serve as a strong signal to the Southeast governors, compelling them to actively seek a lasting solution to the issue at hand.
It should be noted that the sit-at-home order in the Southeast has been repeatedly declared by Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa, exacerbating the crisis in the region and adversely impacting its economic activities.
In response to these developments, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, expressed the organization’s firm resolve to prevent Ekpa from disrupting the economic stability of the Southeast.
Isiguzoro further commented, “A desperate moment needs desperate action. We want to warn again that Ohanaeze will not fold its arms and allow miscreants to destroy economic activities in the Southeast.
He continued, “If possible, where this sit-at-home is happening should be declared a state of emergency. This is what Tinubu would do that will make the Southeast governors sit up and find a lasting solution to the problem.
Isiguzoro also highlighted that Ekpa’s actions could potentially foster division among the Igbo people, expressing concern over the silence of figures like Peter Obi. He added, “We hope this is not a conspiracy against the president.”
He affirmed that the Igbo community stands united in supporting Tinubu and is committed to assisting in suppressing this rebellion, as Igbos are not willing to engage in another Biafra War.
