Mr Ibu Dies at 62
Renowned Nollywood actor Mr Ibu, born John Okafor, has passed away at the age of 62.
The veteran comedian breathed his last at Evercare Hospital, as confirmed to Excel Magazine International by sources close to him.
Although fans across the globe are mourning his loss, sharing heartfelt condolences and reminiscing about his memorable roles in various movies.
Confirming the devastating news, Emeka Rollas, the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), expressed profound grief on behalf of the guild.
He revealed the unfortunate demise of Mr Ibu due to cardiac arrest, as conveyed by his long-time manager, Mr Don Single Nwuzor.
Recall Mr Ibu had been grappling with health challenges since October 2023, enduring multiple surgeries that eventually led to the amputation of one of his legs.
Despite initial setbacks, updates from his family in November had provided a glimmer of hope, indicating signs of recovery.
The news of Mr Ibu’s demise comes as yet another blow to the Nollywood community, occurring within 24 hours of the passing of another industry stalwart, Quadri Oyebamiji, popularly known as Sisi Quadri.
Throughout his career, Mr Ibu faced personal trials, including allegations of poisoning by individuals envious of his success.
