The former President of Mali, Amadou Toumani Toure has died in Turkey at the age of 72.
The late president led the Sahel Nation for ten years before being ousted out in a coup.
“Amadou Toumani Toure died during the night of Monday to Tuesday in Turkey,” where he had been taken for health reasons, his nephew Oumar Toure told AFP.
The former army general was celebrated for enacting democratic reforms in West Africa.
