On Tuesday, 17th November 2020, Mali held a state funeral for late former president, Amadou Toumani Toure.
The late Ex-president led the country for a decade before being ousted in a coup.
The coffin was covered with the national flag and carried by six soldiers who marched slowly into the centre of a square at the capital.
The ceremony was attended by many dignitaries from within and outside the country.
“A great man has fallen, it is an incalculable loss for Mali”, the master of ceremony acclaimed.
At the event was the President of Mali’s Transitional government, Bah N’Daw and the Vice President, Assimi Goita.
The Prime Ministers of Niger and Guinea Bissau were in attendance while other countries in the region sent their envoys.

It would be recalled that late Amadou Toure died on November 10th in Turkey at the age of 72.
As a former soldier, the late Toure first took charge of the country for a year in 1991. He assisted in overthrowing Moussa Traore, who had been in power since 1968.
The Late Mali ex-president took the helm of a transitional committee, performing the duties of the head of state and ensuring there were elections in the country.
Toure won Presidential elections in 2002 and again in 2007.
