Late High Chief O.B Lulu Briggs was a blessing to the less privileged – Governor Wike

Rivers State Governor,  Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has described Late High Chief O.B. Lulu Briggs as a worthy philanthropist who used his wealth  to bless the less privileged in the society.

Speaking during  a condolence visit to the family of Late High Chief O.B. Lulu Briggs on Saturday in Port Harcourt,  Governor Wike eulogized the late High Chief, stating how he made very quality contributions  to the development  of Rivers State.

The Governor was received by the Widow of Late High Chief O.B Lulu Briggs,  Mrs Seniye O. B. Lulu Briggs.

“God gives and God takes.  As we come, so we shall leave. What is important is the contributions that we make to the society.

“God blessed him and he didn’t use the blessing  for himself alone. He used the blessing for the society.” he said.

Governor Wike  also praised Late High Chief O.B. Lulu Briggs for supporting his development blueprint during his quest to govern Rivers State in 2014/2015.

Another unforgettable quality that Lulu Briggs possessed was his flair for generosity.

“He was a man that helped the less privileged.  Everyone attests to the fact that he was a giver.

“I have seen the scholarships that he awards to the people”.

The governor said that as a politician under the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) , High Chief O.B. Lulu Briggs was committed to ideals of development .

Governor Wike urged the family to work hard to maintain the legacy of Late High Chief O.B Lulu Briggs and assured them that the Rivers State Government will actively  participate in the burial ceremony  of the Late Elder Statesman.

Responding on behalf of the family, daughter of Late High Chief O.B Lulu Briggs,  Mrs Solate Ovunda Akarolo thanked Governor Wike for leading a high-profile delegation to sympathize with the family.

She said that the family  still misses their patriarch and promised to inform the State Government of the burial programme  when the time came.
