Labour Party Denies Merger Plans with PDP for 2027 Elections
The Labour Party clarified on Thursday that it has no intentions of merging with the Peoples Democratic Party to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
This statement follows PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, suggesting the need for opposition parties to unite against the APC in the upcoming presidential poll.
LP spokesman, Obiora Ifoh, responded to Atiku’s proposal, stating that the party has not engaged in any discussions regarding a merger.
Ifoh emphasized that Atiku’s call was merely a suggestion, highlighting the importance of fostering democracy in Nigeria.
Ifoh reiterated that their response did not mention any purported merger between LP and PDP.
Meanwhile, the APC criticized Atiku’s merger plan, asserting that he is struggling to accept reality after his loss in the presidential poll.
National Publicity Secretary of APC, Felix Morka, suggested that the PDP should focus on resolving its internal party crisis in a statement.
