Kyrgyzstan Election: Prime Minister Resigns


The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Kubatbek Boronov on Tuesday 6th October resigned from office after series of post-election protests.

Opposition groups since after election has taken control of parliament, protesting election results which they believe was rigged. It will be recalled that the country’s parliamentary election took place on Sunday.

The Parliament has appointed Sadyr Zhaparov a founder of the opposition party Mekenchil as the Acting Prime Minister.

To see ways of solving the current situation, a group of 13 opposition parties have formed a coordinating council.

The Mayors of Bishkek and Osh; the governors of Naryn, Talas and Issyk-Kul regions have resigned.

The citizens of Kyrgyzstan frustration is very clear because of the various political uncertainties over the years. In the last 15 years, the country has encountered two revolutions. The revolutions of 2005 and 2010 were against the corrupt political class and electoral fraud.

The 2010 revolution led to ethnic clashes in the majority Uzbek south that led to the loss of lives of about 400 people.
