Kidnapping: Nurses, Midwives Stage Protest In Kaduna

National Association of Nurses and Midwives kaduna state chapter has  staged a peaceful protest on Thursday over the kidnap of two female Nurses on night duty shift at Idon General Hospital along kachia road in Kajuru local government area of the state.

The protest comes barely 24 hours after the unfortunate incident of the abduction unspecified numbers of  students of the Greenfield private university in the state.

The Health workers stormed the ministry of health and later proceeded to Government House in a peaceful protest to register their anger over the abduction of two of female Nurses by bandits with holding various placards inscription and chant Says ” Our health workers are not safe, Bring back our nurses, End Kidnapping in Kaduna, and demanding the rescue of their members over what they described as insecure premises of most health facilities in the state.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Association Kaduna State Chapter, Ishaku Yakubu Says, lacks of effective fending and security of the most health facilities premises amply responsible for abduction of their members.

Yakubu, lamented that five of their members have fallen victims of Kidnapping and over 100 were earlier affected by Covid-19 pandemic as Frontline  workers in the state described the situation as condemnable.

They called on the state government to intensified efforts to secure the released of the victims between 48 and 78 hours unhurt as they would left with no option than to withdraw their services.

He says most of the  members have fled the hospitals in rural areas because of fear of insecurity in premises for their lives in serving humanity.

They added that  bandits purposely came for health workers calling them repeatedly,at the entry point calling for people with white uniform only and not patients or anybody.
