INTERVIEW: How ISWA Has Impacted Imo State and United States– Chief Genevieve Ibe
In an exclusive interview with Excel Magazine International, Chief Genevieve Ibe, President of the Imo State Women Association (ISWA), has shared inspiring details about the association’s achievements and vision for empowering women in Nigeria’s Imo State and the United States.
Since assuming leadership in 2020, ISWA has experienced significant growth, fostering the creation, communication, and application of human resources to benefit women globally.
Founded 13 years ago with just 11 women, ISWA has expanded its membership to include 37 accomplished women from various professional fields, fostering growth and enabling members to assume roles ranging from regular staff to managing directors and entrepreneurs.
As a proud partner of Excel Magazine International, ISWA, with its publisher Boniface Ihiasota as an honorary member, has impacted communities beyond Imo State, undertaking initiatives aimed at uplifting the lives of women and their communities.
Through fundraising efforts and self-imposed tasks, ISWA provides financial support for less privileged women, enabling them to make a positive difference in their respective fields. Notably, the association has renovated and equipped health centers and contributed significantly to education by improving infrastructure in schools, including providing computer sets and laboratory equipment.
ISWA has also undertaken extensive water projects, such as digging boreholes and providing clean water to large communities. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the association demonstrated its commitment to community welfare by providing food aid to communities facing shortages.
Chief Genevieve Ibe emphasized that ISWA’s outreach is not limited to Nigeria. In the United States, where members reside, ISWA supports charitable organizations dedicated to assisting underprivileged individuals, providing financial aid and essential materials for their day-to-day activities.
ISWA’s members, leveraging their high levels of education, utilize networks and connections to bring about positive change for their communities, extending their impact beyond Imo State.
Chief Ibe commended Excel Magazine for promoting ISWA’s initiatives through regular features, stating that “A simple search of ISWA on Google will yield a comprehensive overview of their activities, thanks to the continuous coverage provided by Excel Magazine.”
The Imo State Women Association’s relentless commitment to empowering women, supporting communities, and fostering positive change exemplifies their dedication to making a lasting impact. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Genevieve Ibe, ISWA continues to inspire and transform lives, leaving an indelible mark on Imo State and beyond.
