The government of Imo State Nigeria has commenced a 2-day Security Summit in the state, with theme, “Capacity Building and Development of a Security Road Map for Imo State” for Traditional rulers, Local Government Chairmen, Town Union Executives, Community Vigilantes and relevant stakeholders.
In attendance was the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu.
The Inspector General of Police highlighted the need for community policing as one of the pivotal security mechanism in curbing crimes, stating that men of the police force especially in the state have been trained to combat security threats.
He further charged all the relevant stakeholders to work in synergy with each other in the state and called on them to take necessary measures in their localities and domains to ensure and institute long lasting peace and security.
The Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguish Senator Hope Uzodimma while declaring the 2-Day summit open expressed gratitude of the government and the people of Imo state to the IGP for making out time to join the summit, assuring the IGP of his administration readiness to support community policingwith the necessary manpower and resources.
The governor further promised to rebuild all police stations and formations which were affected during the #EndSARS protest in the state and promise to support the families of slained police officers in the state.
