There are interesting times ahead for the upcoming election in Imo state as the row between incumbent governor , Rochas Okorocha and the ruling All Progressives Party deepened, EXCEL BREAKING NEWS can authoritatively report.

It was gathered that In a recent visit to Imo state , there was a heated argument between Rochas Okorocha and the All Progressives Congress delegation led by the wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo.

EXCEL BREAKING NEWS learnt that happening at the campaign venue where Okorocha boasted that his son-in-law will emerge winner of the election gives a glimpse to the internal politicking going On ahead of the elections.

House of Assembly members have also pitched their tents across various party divides as the crisis refuses to abate.

Other opposition parties have however taken advantage of the situation believing that with the ruling party and governor in disagreement, there maybe a surprise in the election results.

Parties like All Progressives Grand Alliance where Senator Ararume is the candidate, People’s Democratic Party of Emeka Ihedioha, Zenith Labour Party of Humphrey Anumudu, have been pulling weights in a bid to spring a surprise win.

With campaigns already heightening, residents believe that the election is an open contest with possibility of any winner emerging especially with the ongoing power play in the state.

For a respondent who simply identified himself as Uche , the election in the state will be one of the most interesting in the country

” I can state that with politics going on , we cannot state that this person will win but anyone can emerge ” he noted .

HOW THE CRISIS STARTED

Incumbent governor Rochas Okorocha had fielded his In-law, Uche Nwosu , for the election even after he lost the All Progressives Congress primary election. Governor Rochas believes that the ruling party is been unfair to the state by refusing his in-law opportunity to contest under its umbrella. He recently attacked the All Progressives Congress Chairman, Oshiomole, accusing him of insulting him in his state during campaigns of the party.

Although, he has refused to decamp from the party and also contesting senatorial election under the party, governor Rochas has several my maintained that he supports the return of President Muhammadu Buhari.

His Son-In-law who got his prayers is currently In the Action Alliance (AA) while Hope Uzodinma is with the All Progressives Congress.

There are feelers that some of the political parties may still merge as intensity heightens towards preparation for the much anticipated elections.

The governorship election is scheduled for March .
