IGP Orders Arrest of Woman-beater Senator; Senate Sets up Probe Panel as Atiku Tells Him to Be Remorseful

Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the arrest of a woman-beater Senator, Elisha Abbo, and his orderly on
Wednesday, the Senate has also set up a committee to probe him over the alleged assault on a sales girl in a sex toy shop in Abuja.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, has also advised the embattled Senator to tender a
public apologies and voluntarily turn himself in to the police to show a good example expected of a young leader. He also advised the senator to show
genuine remorse.

“I have seen the alleged assault video involving Senator Elisha Abbo. The video is sad, inexcusable. I know the Senator quite well. But the law is clear and leaders must lead by example.

“‪‪I advise him to publicly apologise, voluntarily go to the police and show a good example expected of a young leader.

“I also call on our party, the PDP to take necessary disciplinary action and the Nigerian Police to ensure the law takes its full course,” Atiku said.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan, who set up the probe committee, charged the committee members to probe the incident, giving an ultimatum of two weeks.
