Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya earlier today led a delegation to the palace of the Emir of Kano in Kano state to commiserate with the Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and his brother, the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero over the demise of their mother, Hajiya Maryam Ado Bayero, popularly known as Mai Babban Daki.
Delivering the condolence message on behalf of the government and people of Gombe state, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the late martriach of the Bayero family as a great woman and pillar of the royal family who lived an exemplary life and left behind a legacy of honour, dignity and good character.
He said the late Hajiya Maryam Mai Babban Daki died at a time her counsels were most needed, especially by the two emirs as they rule over their respective domains in Kano and Bichi.
He prayed Almighty Allah to console the bereaved monarchs and the entire royal family as well as the people of Kano state over the huge loss.
The Governor who also paid similar visit to the Governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the Government House, kano, described the relationship between Gombe and Kano States as long standing one.
He said the death of Hajiya Mai Babban Daki is also a huge loss for Gombe state and Nigeria as a whole, praying Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and reward her good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus.
In his response, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje expressed appreciation to his Gombe state counterpart for identifying with them in their moment of grief, concuring with Governor Yahaya’s position that Gombe and Kano states share a lot of historical and commercial ties, hence what ever affects one, affects the other.
On the Governor’s entourage were the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar lll, Speaker Gombe state House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerowo, Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Abubakar Inuwa Kari and the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo.The Gombe state Murshid of Jama”atu Nasril Islam, Usman Baba Liman led the prayers for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased.
Hajiya Maryam Bayero passed on early Saturday in Cairo, Egypt after a protracted illness and was buried in Kano.
