FG Increases Workers, Pensioners Salaries

The Federal Government has authorized substantial salary adjustments ranging between 25% and 35% for Civil Servants across six Consolidated Salary Structures, effective January 1, 2024.

This decision was confirmed in a statement released by Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of Press at the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC) and obtained by Excel Magazine International on Tuesday.

Additionally, the government has endorsed pension increments of 20% to 28% for pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme, pertaining to the aforementioned six consolidated salary structures, also taking effect from January 1, 2024.

The salary structures encompass the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

Previously, adjustments had been implemented for individuals in the Tertiary Education and Health Sectors, specifically involving the Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS) for Universities.

Similarly, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education experienced revisions through the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS).
