The Federal Government and the Anambra State government have promised to fix the dilapidated Onitsha-Owerri Road, after a portion of it was damaged by erosion.
The Federal road located just before the metallurgical Institute was days back destroyed after a heavy downpour, causing gridlock and hardship for commuters and travellers plying the road.
The Federal Comptroller of Works, Anambra State, Mr Ajani Adeyemo who inspected the road on Wednesday, alongside the state commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor said the Federal and State Governments will fix the road within three days.
“The Federal Government has deployed the services of Julius Beger construction company to put the road back to use.
“They (Julius Beger), will give the road within three days. The failure of this road is an unfortunate incident, and this is caused by blockage of natural flood channels with buildings and blocked drainage in the area, which led to washing off of the earth underneath”
