Father of Late Singer Mohbad Expresses Displeasure with Police Investigation
Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has voiced dissatisfaction with the police investigation into the death of his son.
Excel Magazine International reports that Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley, passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Command though initiated a 13-man special investigation team on September 18, 2023, to probe the mysterious death.
Former Lagos Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, assured cooperation with INTERPOL to identify and apprehend those involved.
The death led to the arrest of Naira Marley and Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, among others.
Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, with the police awaiting results, as confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
However, Aloba expressed dissatisfaction, stating that after reporting his son’s death to the police, he expected a search of Mohbad’s house or the release of the autopsy report.
Aloba emphasized the need for thorough questioning and phone searches to uncover the truth.
As of November 2023, the police had not officially received the autopsy report, dispelling rumors.
Aloba, in a TikTok video, asserted his authority over his son’s burial arrangements, insisting on authorization.
Hundeyin, in December 2023, reiterated the command’s reliance on the pathologists’ report for concluding the investigation, emphasizing the necessity of factual information over speculation.
