The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi has spoken extensively to the EXCEL BREAKING NEWS on the ongoing strike action across Nigerian Universities .
Speaking about the visit of the Nigerian Students through National Association of Nigerian Students to President Buhari, the ASUU scribe said he is less concerned about the body’s position
“Whatever NANS or any name they call themselves say is not our concern, they are not part of our discussions and they are free to do whatever they like”
On the possibility of calling off the strike after a meeting with the Federal government tomorrow, the national lecturers’ President said he doubts the possibility
“The issues we are trying to address is not just one , even after the meeting we will meet with our members and report back to them, again until we see some seriousness and results of the Federal government action the strike remains because we are yet to see the results of the action or any seriousness towards calling off the strike” he said.
Professor Biodun Ogunyemi also said lecturers are willing to cooperate with the Independent National Electoral Commission towards ensuring a successful election staring that the Union does not intend to disrupt the election .
The lecturers have been on strike for over sixty days over agitation on underfunding of University Education and non-payment of members allowance .
